There are many reasons people strike out into the world of freelance. Working for your self, setting the hours, and calling the shots is appealing for some. Watching your efforts blossom is satisfying. But, how do you get there? Let’s start with the brainstorm.
Types of freelance careers include makeup artists, web designers, computer programmers, floral designers and performance artists. The list goes on. If you have a specialty, there is a good chance of turning that skill into a career. Brainstorming your ideas helps to give a clear roadmap of where you are, and where you want to go.
Grab yourself a notebook, a blank piece of paper, or your laptop and get ready. Find a time during the day free of distractions. One way to start is by creating a bubble graph. Draw a circle in the middle and write your goal inside. Now, think of everything you might need to connect to that goal. Whether it’s personal, financial or material, write down everything that comes to your mind. There is no need to edit your brainstorm during the creation process. In fact, the free flow of ideas may take you to places you might not have readily thought about.
Another way to attack the brainstorming process is by making a list of pros and cons. Once you find out where you excel, and which areas need further sharpening, you have a better idea of how to begin. Brainstorming with a trusted group of friends is also a good way to get further insight.
